Guildford West Scouts

Update on Membership Availability

Please be aware that since the ending of COVID restrictions we are receiving a very high number of requests for places. All Beaver Colonies and Cub Packs are currently full and, in many cases, have long waiting lists. We would very much like to offer more places but to do this we need more adult volunteers to run new sections. For obvious reasons, children whose parents volunteer will go to the top of a waiting list for an existing section or, if they are starting a new section, they will be able to join that. We will provide training and a uniform and you will need a DBS Disclosure. If are interested in volunteering, please get in touch through the website.

Guildford West District is a member of the UK Scout Association. There are 8 Scout Groups in Guildford West for young people aged 6-18yrs, and a Scout Network which is combined with the Guildford East and Godalming Scout Districts for 18-25 year olds.

The Scout Association provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for 400,000 young people aged 6-25. Internationally, we have over 28 million young people enjoying the benefits of Scouting across 216 countries.

front_3.articlePersonal development means promoting the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual, helping them achieve their full potential. In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are ‘learning by doing,’ when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.

There is a Scout group in most wards in Guildford and with approximately 1,300 members in Guildford alone, Scouting is as popular as ever. However with increasing work commitments we are finding it hard to find volunteers so if you feel you can give some time, no matter how little you feel it may be, please contact us to find out more.

Of course the adults wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for the young people and there are details on all of our sections which are open to girls and boys.
